From Cluj-Napoca it was onto another wonderful Romanian train towards Bucresti (Bucharest), which was different from, but just as uncomfortable and badly maintained as, the train that got us to Cluj.

Our train ride from Prague to Vienna was quick and uneventful, and two trams took us from Vienna Central station to our friend Helene’s apartment.

Our next stop was Hannover, chosen because (a) it’s a major German city we hadn’t yet visited, (b) it was in the right direction and reasonably easy to reach in a day from Copenhagen, and (c) our friend Bettina had invited us to stay with her.
